The Old Biscuit Mill

Cape Town

Wondering what to do on a Saturday morning, when you are in Capetown? Why not head on out to the Old Biscuit Mill Neighbourgoods Market, a former biscuit factory on Albert Street in Woodstock, one of Cape Town’s most popular Saturday market.

There’s fantastic food, from falafels to gourmet burgers, fresh fruit and vegetables, wood-fired breads, cheese and wine stalls, craft beer and cider, music and long communal tables to sit around and feast on the myriad offerings. It can get really busy on a Saturday, so get there early – around 9am – to grab a table and avoid the crowds. If you cannot make it the Saturday for the market, the rest of the Biscuit Mill complex offers a fascinating all-week place to shop

Favorites to check out while there are Clementina Ceramics and Imiso Ceramics for ceramics; the organic bean-to-shop chocolate factory Cocofair; studiously roasted coffee from Espressolab and Mü & Me for super-cute graphic art for cards, wrapping paper, stationery and kids’ T-shirts. You will find also a few gems hidden in the shops adjacent and across the road from the mill.
